What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is treatment to restore, maintain and progress a patient’s mobility, function and well-being. Physiotherapists study the science of movement and focus on both rehabilitation and prevention of injury. They learn about your medical history and complete a physical examination, from which they will review their findings with you, provide a diagnosis and prognosis of your injury. Through education, guidance and individualized treatments plans, physiotherapists get you involved in your own recovery from the first visit.

Services

  • This treatment is used to reduce and relieve pain and promote the healing process. Fine sterile single-use needles are inserted at specific points in the body to stimulate the neuroendocrine system. This helps release your body's endorphins and serotonins - known as natural pain relievers.

  • These customized inserts for your shoes can help your foot function better by reducing stress on certain structures, providing shock absorption and creating a stable base of support. We will conduct a thorough examination of the lumbar spine, lower extremities, gait pattern and certain functional movements to determine if orthotics would be helpful.

  • An evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that allows for detection and treatment of fascial restrictions as well as muscle and tendon dysfunction.

  • We can customize a plan for you based on your exercise goals. We will teach you safe and proper movements to prevent common training errors and injury. We are happy to provide progressions along your journey.

  • A pre-operative exercise plan performed at home before an orthopedic surgery helps maintain as much mobility and function as possible prior to surgery.

  • Recover from surgery and regain function with a post-operative rehabilitation plan. The plan will be tailored for you while we monitor your progress.

  • This passive graded manual therapy technique restores mobility and reduces pain in joints and surrounding tissue.

  • Assessment of all systems is important in return to sport. Restoring mobility, balance and stability are some key components when developing our beginner, novice, and advanced athletes' return to sports programs.

  • Taping, with either traditional tape or kinesiotape offers support to injuries. This treatment is usually combined with other therapies.
